Plainly, I'm not obsessive
about my website ( back in '95 it was a different story, and well,
I think my overall design aesthetic reflects that I lost interest
roughly concurrent with Clinton's second inaugural). I just can't
bring myself to care about this stuff much. Nonetheless, owing
to recent publicity and new developments, here goes.
First off, The
Pioneer Consort will be debuting our breech-birth CD at long
last this month. A difficult delivery but I think an above-average
offspring. Check the website schedule
page for more details.
Bobby Darling and Dr. Divine have
a new DVD available.
$15 and worth every pfennig. If you had to try to describe our
show (and we've failed at that for pretty much ever) this is the
one you want. 60 minutes of the very best bits in an intimate
setting, plus several bonus extras.
Still hoping to revive the
Hot Club of Paradise (or of Amherst
or The Hills) but due to the plethora of local gypsy swing bands,
some not so good, that have popped up concurrently, I've decided
to put any real energy for that on hold and do the occasional
gig from the top GJ 100 when the money's there.

Hey, I realize I'm doing this update
on one of the few dates in the perennial calendar that's a palindrome....
it must be a sign... anyway I can't stand being on this machine
for another minute today but will give plenty of updates shortly....

Yeesh!
Just realized I hadn't changed a thing on this in 9 months! Something
must be new... well, yes. I'm working on three new projects, first,
a Hot
Club
of France ( whisper that word
these days on these shores) string quintet with some of my new
friends here in the Valley.... a jazz/classical piano trio with
my old friend Bob Cummings and cellist Greg Snedeker... and a
classic progressive rock quartet based in Brattleboro, VT. And
will that long-promised CD get done before the next new year?
I think I'll be shamed into it!
Doing
a duo project with Bobby, just Bobby Darling and Dr. Divine, had
a great time in Killington this winter and looking forward to
some summer fun as well. Take a look at the BDS website for updates.
On
the site, look for some new additions, pages for each of the above
projects, a new discography, and a site map in
the coming days.

To
my friends from Blackmore's Night:
As many of you are aware, I will not be with the band on the upcoming
tour. While my journeys with Blackmore's Night have been truly
wonderful, my lengthy absences from home have proven to be too
difficult for both myself and my family. I live some distance
from where we rehearse in New York and must leave them weeks before
the tour begins. My wife works long hours in a demanding position
and must then come home to a 2 year old for many weeks on end,
without any help. She has been wonderful throughout my membership
in Blackmore's Night and deserves some of your applause! My older
daughter also misses me greatly.
I am sad to leave a terrific group of talented, dedicated, fun
folks whom I am very fond of.
Please stay in touch with me and let me know how things are going
with the band on the upcoming tour. I will miss seeing Italy!
I hope that the current situation is not final, and that I may
someday join you all again to share in this unique music.
My apologies for the bulk mail - I will send some of you personal
replies when time permits.
Your
friend, Chris Devine
P.S.
There is an interview with me on the Russian Deep Purple site,

which
you may enjoy reading for some behind-the-scenes details about
me and the band.
